The initial requirement by the local authority, and our Insurers, to apply for a Private Hire drivers' badge, is that the applicant will have to hold a UK license for one year and be over the age of 25 years.
The application sequence is as follows:-
1. If a non native English speaker. Apply for a written and oral English Language test. This is foc.
2. Is to obtain a Driving Standards Agency Private Hire Drivers Skills test. This has to be applied for at the DSA and will cost £58.00 for a saloon car on weekdays and £70.50 on Saturdays and in the evenings.
3. Take and pass the Knowledge of the Bedford Area test. This will cost £18.00
4. Obtain an enhanced CRB check. £36-00
5. Pay a license fee £105 per annum. for the first year
